upside-down world

2002-07-11 11:54 a.m.

helloooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

it has been quite a while since my last entry eh?

nothing vaguely exciting happened during the past few days...

there was the news that we can't keep cats in flats anymore.

the government is screwed up.

i think they mind too much. who gives you the right to invade into our lives the way you do? shouldn't the government educate people on consideration towards others and emphasize on training of pets?

it is because the government is always doing the brainwork for people, thinking that things will then go smoothly. but what that does is to bring up a generation of people who have no fuckin' brains. robots who are controlled.

that may not be a conspiracy theory, probably just thoughtless governing...

screw the fuckin' government, i don't give a damn about silly laws like that.

****************************************

just when you think that there's nothing to contribute to your dull ol' boring diary, something has to happen.

i was caught in the midst of a robbery last night.

two of the robbers actually ran past me.

of course being the bimbo that i am, i happily thought 'it's nice to see people having fun racing in the middle of the night!'.

you can see how screwed up my brain is....

then i saw another guy running at the opposite sidewalk.

then a woman running and crying for help.

the first thing that came to my puny, lil' brain was 'fuck! and they just ran past me!'

i was one lucky bitch!

naked chef was speechless, thinking things like this don't happen in Singapore.

then again, he has seen much worst so he doesn't really think much of it.

i, on the other hand, was quite shaken. i have to pass by that way everytime i finish tuition.

now everytime i walk pass i'll have to be extra careful. it does help that i usually don't carry any bags and very little money when i go. that does calm me down a little.

as usual, i always see the good in everyone. i can't help but to wonder what drove them to such desperate measures? that they'll take such a risk for a few puny dollars!?

maybe they're illegal workers cheated by greedy assholes who tricked them to come here and ran off with their money.

i feel more for the poor than the rich, especially here where most of the rich think that money gets them everything.

it's so sad to see materialism taking over people and they no longer appreciate what's real, essential and important.

"what is important is invisible"

the little prince

and how true!

the things that are important to me, love, friendship, companionship, the smell of the ocean, the touch of my dog and cat, the gratefulness of the person you've helped, etc, cannot be seen.

"the most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even touched. they must be felt with the heart"

john keats

when you're spending so much time earning all that money to get you more material stuff which you think will make you happy, will cause misery because you have lost the time to spend with friends and loved-ones.

i'll rather be poor all my life than to spend my entire life earning millions.

i want to have the time to smell every flower, to help every snail from being stepped on, to listen to my loved ones' problems and more.

i want to see and touch the world, but not from a book.

i want my life to mean something when i leave this world. a life that hasn't been wasted.

many people just can't understand that anymore.

maybe we were wiser when we were younger. the sad thing is, too many children are growing up too fast. i have heard so many of them saying that their ambition would be to make tons of money.

how can we teach our children values when we have none?

what wisdom can we pass on when our minds are cluttered with the thoughts of accumulating immaterial things.

i can't stand to think of a world where money is in so much control, the essential things in our lives cannot co-exist.

i will embrace the child in me, to continue to see the essential with my heart.
