ho ho ho and a bottle of rum

05.01.2005 3:17 pm

i'm back from my fantabulous holiday in hong kong and since i had no access to a computer (with the exception of free internet access in pacific coffee if i get a coffee but i hate having people waiting and looking over my shoulder to see which porn sites i visit), i shall now torture you with a day by day blog all within this one!
*evil laughter*

i was late as usual and was almost denied my flight. the guys at check in were so jittery i decided to skip buying my mag for the flight and go straight to the gate. big mistake. i was entertainless for four hours with the exception of music from my ipod. i always need something to read when there's no movies on planes. plus, i was seated behind two kids, one's still a baby and he was crying non-stop which nearly turned me into a baby killer but my ipod saved me somewhat. i arrived in hk and spent about an hour plus in immigration waiting to pass through and maybe about another half hour trying to convince the immigration officer that i'm really in hk to visit my boyfriend and not trying to prositute myself or something. geez. i managed to convince the guy after i left patrick's mobile number and address with him.
when i got home, there was the guest bed in the middle of the living room and i just started laughing becos i knew what patrick was up to. i took a nice, warm bath and waited for him to finish work.
pat brought a log cake home after work and we simply sipped champagne and ate some of the cake, half wondering if we were dreaming we're going to spend the next nine days together.
ok, from this point on, it's all x-rated. sorry.

pat had to work so i slept in and turned up for lunch at the restaurant. it's wonderful to have a nice lunch and head back home together. we opened our christmas pressies then he went back to work in the evening and i spent the whole evening catching up on fashion tv and chinese movies.

we had lunch at one of pat's customer's house in lantau island. the guy's in his 60's and as french as you can possibly imagine. he was cooking up a storm in his kitchen while we helped ourselves to some aperitif in the garden and played with the dogs. his place was gorgeous, especially since he has a basset hound, haha. i was estatic to spend the whole afternoon with the basset, eat (he actually bought a whole thigh of ham!), drink and chat. the food was alright but the drinks kept coming so by the time evening arrived, i realized i haven't drank a drop of water for the whole day!
then we stayed for dinner and chatted some more.
for an old guy who's extremely set in his ways, he's quite nice. i can imagine how patrick will turn out in 30 years time...

having eaten and drank ungodly amounts of alcohol the day before, pat decided we should walk up to the peak, have a nice lunch and walk down so we can keep our figures trim. i'm just happy we're going for a nice lunch because he had an evil/naughty glint in his eyes when he said that. i nearly died going up and was starving. pat was trying to motivate me by saying being hungry would enable us to climb the bloody hills in a shorter time. i was just keeping my mouth shut, trying not to chew on his arm.
we finally got to the restaurant and got ourselves some very nice oysters, salads and curry marinated seafood with naan. then we each had a sinful serving of ice-cream.
the walk down was more bearable cos we've done it numerous times with jacky and it was odd not having to keep an eye on the silly beagle.
in the evening we just kicked back and relaxed with homecooked pasta and cider, waiting for the oyster to take effect.

we woke up late, as usual and headed to tsim sa tsui to buy pat some shoes for work. then we found a very nice japanese conveyer belt sushi place, had some snacks and went home to watch dvds. yes, we can be very boring people...

pat and i had planned to go to the new territories for some horse-riding action but it was all booked up so we thought we'll head down to sai kung for a nice walk and seafood. that was before my allegies started acting up due to the dusty winter wear that had been dormant in the wardrobe for quite a while. we had to stay home becos i was sneezing and coughing till i was almost asthmatic. being the sweet dude he is, pat went out to buy the century egg congee i was craving for and came back with the congee and a big bouquet of lilies and roses!
he was very well rewarded for his sweet deed and i got better so we went out for dinner at a place called the stonegrill. it turned out to be quite unromantic as we had to cook our food on this stone thingy. pat was not very impressed with their food so we skipped off to a middle eastern place for desert and more wine. the decor was nice and i had a cinnamon ice cream with candy floss on top. i absolutely loved the candy floss which was not too sweet and very fun to eat! then deciding that we're not drunk enough, we headed to a bar which not many people knew of. it was cool. there was no signage so if no one told you where this bar was, you'd never have known. the interior was very old style european and the drinks had real kick. the place was packed, obviously word of mouth travels extremely quickly. we were lucky to get a seat each after 15 mins of standing against the wall, trying not to spill our drinks. maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the place but we talked and laughed and kissed. man, that was unforgettable...

pat had to work so i went shopping, especially when i was instructed to buy certain items for my sis, my niece and my mum.
i went down to mongkok, ladies market to get the fake christian dior bag my sis wanted and also bought my first fake bag! mine is a christain dior saddle bag from the rasta collection. i thought it looked quite cute and i bargained it from HK$460 to HK$280, so why not.
then i headed to the harbourcity stretch of malls and spent almost my entire hk funds on shopping. yes i did. i might have overdone it this time but i did get away with a pair of very cute sandals from dkny, a skirt (on discount!) from esprit, some accessories, tights, socks for me and pat, and skincare products.
then i had a nice chinese dinner at a nearby restaurant and took the ferry back to the hk side.

since pat will be busy today, i went down to causeway bay to get the bloody cashew nuts and bbq pork that my mum has ordered me to buy. note to self, never go to hk before cny becos mum needs to stock up on goodies. the streets are filled with people and i'm getting claustrophobic. i quickly went home, made myself a nice cup of hot tea and snacked on some of the cashew before i start dressing up for the new year's eve 'party'. well, i'm actually going down to the restaurant for dinner, alone. it's quite daunting since everyone's with friends and i'll be sitting all alone with just a book for company.
it actually didn't turn out to be half as bad and pat came out to talk to me in between courses and we counted down together.
the fun began after he knocked off and we headed to a bar/club for drinks. i had a free flow of champagne so i must have had about 5-6 glasses already and we were so happy we had a special semi-nasty shot concocted by the bartender which made us all warm and fuzzy we decided to get tequila pops. ok, then we had the normal drinks. hmmm, actually i can't really remember what i had after the tequila, a dirty martini maybe? anyway, we were quite fucked and the first thing pat did when we got home was to puke his guts out. i think a witnessed some of the spewing and promptly blacked out in the bed.
woo hoo! a great new year!

we woke up early which was terribly strange cos we'd usually sleep till 4pm after the kind of debauchery we'd been up to the night before. i think it's becos pat really wanted to make it to the champagne brunch and so we did, half an hour before they close the brunch. we started with oysters, some more appetizers, half a lobster and steak and finshed off with some dessert. of course, there was a free flow of moet. we were really spoiling ourselves....
it was such a bloody cold day we decided to take a stroll in the sun before heading home to warm up.

the thought of my departure the next day loomed over our heads but we braced ourselves and went for dimsum. after stuffing our faces with all the delicious savouries, we walked to the ifc for some coffee and a stroll in the newly opened lane crawford. man, it's huge! the men's section was tempting like hell and we saw a striped, pink, party shirt but it was a whooping HK$1500. i was broke and patrick had to think about paying his taxes so we passed. wow, you'd really have to go see the place. it's the best department store i've seen. absolutely.
after gawking at all the terribly expensive items in lane crawford, we stopped for coffee and tea before making our way to citysuper for ingredients for tonight's special dinner.
two half bottles of wine and a dinner later, we were just cuddling and talking which made leaving harder the next day.

my last day in hk. we did very mandane things like going to the bank, having lunch at the local eatery, buying groceries, almost like we were trying to avoid the fact that i was leaving.

yes, so if you're still here, wow.
sigh, it's back to missing patrick and talking over the phone again. i still don't know if he's coming back to work or staying in hk but he's going to quit in march. in the meantime, his pictures and thoughts of him will have to suffice.
